LAPD Officer Newman (in a great role by GEORGE PEPPARD) has not gotten the reputation of a straight arrow by avoiding conflict when fighting for right. In this police drama, his honesty and maverick cop attitude is put to the test when he and his partner Garry (ROGER ROBINSON) discover a international drug ring involving some of the department's highest ranking officers. Garry's wife in the film is none other than MARLENE CLARK and ABE VIGODA plays John Dellanzia, an average joe mafioso goon. A surprise is seeing MEL STEWART (the jazz saxophonist extraordinaire) as the crime boss. A Z-Grade crime action rarity that has aged nicely. And a neat footnote to this tape, is the vintage Universal Studios Tour logo graphic at the end of the feature. Dig it!
